LYNNE SEAMAN


Lynne began learning to quilt in the early 80s . After taking early retirement from teaching Modern Languages in 1996, Lynne began making Art Quilts. She also makes artists’ books.

Many of Lynne’s quilts have been exhibited in the UK, the USA, Europe and Japan. . She is a member of the Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles, Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA), By Design Textile Arts Group, and Quadriga stitched textiles group. Lynne is SAQA Co-Representative for Europe and Israel.

Lynne has exhibited her work in many invitational and juried exhibitions. She was recently invited to make a piece of work for the travelling exhibition ‘America Celebrates!’ in the USA, and has been juried into several exhibitions in the UK and Europe as well as showing work as part of the art quilt groups she belongs to.

Lynne’s work is known and recognised by her use of bright coloured hand-painted and dyed fabric. Colour is the most important part of Lynne’s work; she is a colour field artist and is constantly exploring the way colour works. Her work reflects her personal view of colour. Lynne is inspired by nature and the work of artists such as Matisse, Yves Klein, Mark Rothko, Josef Albers and Rebecca Bluestone, who all share a love of colour.

Lynne lives in London with her husband; they have two children and two grandchildren.
